Collaboration with Stena Recycling
Datavärde Teknik joined hands with Stena Recycling to support them as a consultancy company to redefine Li-ion battery recycling. Recognizing the potential in reusing Li-ion batteries, we brought our IT system, data science and battery analytics expertise to the table.

Challenges
Capacity Expansion: Stena Recycling faced the task of augmenting their capacity to handle Li-ion battery recycling material, anticipating a surge in discarded batteries.
Battery Status Assessment: Precision in assessing each battery's status was important to maximize the value of reused batteries. This required test methods, instructions, and tracking systems accounting for the multifaceted spectrum of Li-ion battery types.
Safety and Risk Management: Ensuring a secure and risk-free operational environment was paramount. Effective risk management strategies were imperative to safeguard both personnel and the environment.
Our Approach
Our involvement in the project was as consultants as follows:
-
Concept Workshops: We actively engaged in concept workshops, lending our insights to support in shaping the project's vision and goals.
-
Use-Case Descriptions: We created a use-case descriptions, defining scenarios and requirements that would drive the development of the system.
-
Behavioral Reviews: We conducted joint IT system behavior reviews to ensure that aspect of the system aligned with Stena Recycling's objectives.
-
Battery Analytics Algorithms: Leveraging expertise, we developed battery analytics algorithms tailored to various battery types.
-
Smart Database Structure: We designed an efficient database structure, adept at managing the volume of data generated by the battery measurements.
-
Software Architecture: We joined forces with Stena in defining smart and useful SW services fostering seamless integration and interaction between diverse system components.

Conclusion
The cooperation between Datavärde Teknik and Stena Recycling exemplifies our capability as IT system and data-driven solutions company. Together, we have expanded recycling capacity and opened for many possibilities of reusing Li-ion batteries, thus contributing to a more sustainable and eco-conscious future. Datavärde Teknik is proud to be part of the journey that Stena Recycling embarked upon.
Swedish Sea Rescue Organization
The partnership between Datavärde and the Swedish Sea Rescue Organization (SSRS) began with a simple yet crucial need: SSRS needed a way to monitor and maintain their vessels, ensuring they were always prepared for rescue operations.
Before Datavärde was officially established, SSRS approached one of its founders with this challenge. Recognizing the importance of this mission, the team at the time got quickly to work. They developed a telematics solution designed to access vital information from the vessels' main subsystems, including engines, navigation systems, and electrical power units. To manage and store this data, they created a makeshift server software that stored everything in a secure database.
The initial trials were a success, and SSRS was impressed by the capabilities Datavärde had demonstrated. They decided to entrust the team with the responsibility of overseeing their entire fleet's telematics and diagnostics needs.
Around this time, Datavärde was in the process of being founded, and they proudly announced the exciting collaboration between SSRS and Datavärde for a new marine platform development project. This journey was fueled by a commitment to creating a marine platform tailored to SSRS's requirements.
As the collaboration progressed, Datavärde and SSRS agreed on a mutually beneficial arrangement. SSRS provided Datavärde access to their vessels for testing and proof of concept, while Datavärde invested time and resources in developing a robust platform that SSRS could rely on.

The success of the platform soon caught the attention of Öborgen AB, a major player in the Swedish service and shipyard market catering to the ferry, fishing, and near-coastal vessel industry. Öborgen's CEO, Örjan Backman, recognized the potential of Datavärde's technology and approached the company with a proposal for cooperation.
After fruitful discussions, ÖPAC AB was born—part owners Öborgen and Datavärde. This collaboration expanded the scope and reach of the platform, opening access to a larger fleet that could benefit from this new technology.
The platform developed by Datavärde exemplified the diverse skillset of their team, spanning from embedded and IoT terminal development to application of data science, server programming and user interface and client-side UX development. This multidisciplinary approach was critical in creating a solution that met the needs of the maritime industry.
The development of the platform was a dynamic journey that leveraged a mixture of workshops, field trials, and targeted testing. It was a testament to Datavärde's commitment to continuous improvement and innovation, as we worked hand in hand with our partners to shape the new solution.
Through dedication and collaborative spirit, Datavärde now handed over to ÖPAC AB and SSRS made new marine technology, ensuring safer and more efficient operations on the seas. Our story became an example of what can be achieved when innovation meets collaboration in pursuit of a common goal.
